This is an interrogation of the Valley of Words’ nominated book, Buddha at Work through a Nichiren Buddhist hermeneutics. In this process the review proves Jim McGuigan and Harold Bloom correct in their invectives against cultural populism.
Valley of Words
I came across this book through the VoW literary festival to be held in November 2018. Therefore I took it up for review and I find it is one of the best books in the market on its subject and falls within the continuum of Kakar and Ira Trivedi. Though I compare Rajkotia with Kakar and later, Leonard Cohen, she simply bows to cultural populism and her book is ephemera when compared to the Kinsey Reports, leave alone Henry Miller or/& Anais Nin’s works. This review proves the uselessness of studying popular culture. John Storey be darned.
This is a review of a cookery book nominated for the Valley of Words book competition, 2018. The review sees the book as a historically important document on colonialism.
